Three iconic ballets in one performance
Civic Center Music Hall

Featuring OKCPHIL

FANCY FREE
Playful and nostalgic
Music by Leonard Bernstein | Choreography by two-time Oscar Award winner Jerome Robbins
7 OKC Ballet Dancers | 54 OKCPHIL Musicians

Fancy Free was created in 1944 by famed choreographer and two-time Oscar winner Jerome Robbins. The ballet features three sailors on shore leave in a New York City bar. The three sailors flaunt their dance skills to win over two women in the bar. Fancy Free was the inspiration for the 1949 musical, On the Town, starring Gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra. The music is by Leonard Bernstein, which will be played live by OKCPHIL.

Support for Fancy Free is provided by the O.K. Detrick Foundation

CARMINA BURANA
Dramatic and physically demanding

Music by Carl Orff | Choreography by Oklahoma City Ballet Artistic Director Ryan Jolicoeur-Nye
36 OKC Ballet Dancers | 3 Opera Soloists | 80+ Canterbury Voices Choral Singers | 54 OKCPHIL Musicians

In collaboration with Canterbury Voices, more than 80 singers will join Oklahoma City Ballet dancers for this iconic work based on a collection of 13th century songs and poems.

CACTI
Cheeky and visually stunning

Music by Franz Haydn, Ludwig van Beethoven, Franz Schubert | Choreography by Alexander Ekman
16 OKC Ballet Dancers | 4 Musicians onstage with dancers | 54 OKCPHIL Musicians

In Cacti, 16 dancers stand, seemingly trapped, on oversized Scrabble tiles. While a string quartet plays and spoken recordings give tongue-in-cheek narration of the action, the dancers run, fall, writhe, and try to escape their invisible prisons. A gleeful and knowing parody of the art form’s greater excesses, Cacti is an affectionate, pointed, and often hilarious deconstruction of the affectations of dance.

Total show run time is 2 hours 24 minutes (including two 15-minute intermissions)
