We are excited to announce a variety of new Adult Classes at OKC Ballet. From “Beginner Ballet” to “Diva Heels” there is truly something for everyone! Full class descriptions and details are below.

Adult Classes are now part of our Community Programs, which strive to reflect Oklahoma City Ballet's commitment to equity, inclusivity, and access.

  • Classes will be short term enrollment with a 3 or 4 week duration. Each month is an opportunity to explore something new!
  • Class fees will be offered on a sliding scale. Please see our pricing policy below.
  • Payment for Class Fees can be paid through Square, check or cash. We are unable to accept payment thru IClassPro or any existing card(s) on file.

Beginner Ballet

A class for dancers who are familiar with the ballet basics and looking to gain a stronger foundation of ballet technique. Barre, center, and across-the-floor exercises focus on proper alignment, core and leg strength, and flexibility in simple combinations. Ages 16 +.

What to wear: live your ballet core fantasy - leotard, tights, leg warmers, maybe a wrap sweater OR leggings, shorts, and a t-shirt; whatever you like to move in. Ballet shoes or socks are recommended.

The Vibe: Ballet technique that honors the classical tradition while celebrating the beauty that is "all bodies are made to move."

NOT A BEGINNER…NOT QUITE ADVANCED

The Vibe: You have been rocking it out in Beginner Class, feeling confident, and now you’re ready for a new challenge. But you’re not quite ready for the Intermediate/Advanced class. This class is perfect for that in-between place –still focusing on solid fundamentals, but introducing new material, more complex patterns and more physically demanding work. This class is also perfect to supplement the Beginner or Advanced classes you are already enjoying.

 What to Wear: Keep wearing your favorite workout clothes or sweats. OR now is the time to invest in that cute leo and skirt you have had your eye on at Discount Dance.

ADVANCED BALLET

Designed for the dancer with at least 3+ years of prior experience this hour-and-a-half class focuses on enhancing individual artistry and cultivating the dancer's technical level with increasingly complex combinations of steps. Ages 16+.

What to wear: Do we even need to tell you? You are an expert at this point - wear anything from your extensive dance wardrobe!

The Vibe: Ballet technique that honors the classical tradition while celebrating the beauty that is "all bodies are made to move." Also, don't be surprised when people ask if you are a company dancer!

Absolute Beginner-Intro to Ballet

Start here to begin your Ballet Journey or to re-visit the basic positions, terminology, and movements essential to Ballet. The class pace will be slow, packed with fun, and easy to understand. This class material will progress throughout the month- attendance at all sessions is recommended.

CARDIO DANCE PARTY

This easy, follow-along dance class combines the best of Latin, jazz, and hip-hop for a great cardio workout that is fun for all fitness levels! Ages 16 +.

What to wear: Any fitness or dance attire and sneakers

The Vibe: sweaty, fun, and energetic. Everyone is welcome at this party.

BRUCE'S INTRO TO BALLET - PART 2

The Vibe: You’ve watched Center Stage 15 times and you’ve always wanted an excuse to buy leg warmers, but just not sure how to start. This class is for you! Ballet Icon Bruce Steivel will grow and enhance the foundation of your technique as you build strength and skill!

DIVA HEELS

Release your inner diva in this spicy class! Jazz technique and the latest trends in music, movement, and style combine in this sultry dance experience. Dance heels or any shoe that makes you feel amazing is suggested -no stilettos please for your safety and the safety of our dance floor.

Ages 18+ -the spice level for this class is too hot for high school

What to wear: Color, sequins, sparkles, and fashion are welcome (heels recommended). Maybe those shorts that are potentially too short. Make sure you can kick, drop it, and get on the floor with ease. Dance Heels or any shoe that makes you feel amazing is suggested -no stilettos please for your safety and the safety of our dance floor

VIBE OF THE WEEK

How are you feeling today? Select the mood of the day in this interactive dance class. When you enter you will vote for the current vibe or mood, for example, “angry, tired, hating my ex, excited, craving something new, super chill.” After you select the vibe, Teaching Artist Quincy will create a movement experience catered to the ‘Vibe of the Week.”1

The Vibe: Building stamina, strength, and flexibility with a combination of many fitness styles and techniques. Ideal for dancers looking to improve their performance, anyone wanting to get a challenging workout, and people who are simply fans of our amazing Principal Dancer, Marco Corcella. Marco’s infectious energy, expertise, positive attitude, and inspiring form create a one–of–a–kind experience.

What to wear: Be ready to be sweaty! Gym clothing or comfortable workout.

Our Philosophy:

Oklahoma City Ballet Community Engagement is committed to access, equity, and inclusive pricing policies. In addition to our many free community programs, we offer sliding scale pricing for our paid adult classes. With each class listing, “Minimum Value” indicates the lowest amount to pay for class. “Class Value” is the full cost of the class. You may select either value or any amount between those two numbers to pay for class.

If you would like to pay more than the Class Value, any surplus goes toward supporting our free and low cost Community Engagement Programs.
