Miki Kawamura Khalfan

Miki was appointed as Ballet Master in 2016 while she was still a principal dancer at Oklahoma City Ballet, and remained a Ballet Master after retiring from the stage in 2019.

Miki began her training in Sapporo, Japan, then continued at Pacific Dance Arts in Vancouver, Canada. She danced professionally with Eugene Ballet/Ballet Idaho, City Ballet of San Diego, and Charleston Ballet Theatre before joining Oklahoma City Ballet in 2010.

With Oklahoma City Ballet, Miki performed principal roles in The Phantom of the Opera, Coppélia, Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, The Sleeping Beauty, and La Sylphide, in addition to the title roles in Paquita, Carmen, Cinderella, Romeo & Juliet, Scheherezade - 1001 Arabian Nights, Giselle, and ALICE (in wonderland.) Her repertoire also includes George Balanchine's Valse Fantaisie, Anthony Tudor's Lilac Garden, Jiří Kylián's Petite Mort, August Bournonville's Napoli Divertissements, in addition to works by Gerald Arpino, Twyla Tharp, Margo Sappington, Stanton Welch, Nicolo Fonte, and Paul Vasterling. She has also created roles in new works by Matthew Neenan, Ma Cong, Jessica Lang, Brian Enos, Alan Hineline, and Robert Mills.

Miki was awarded "Artist of the Year" by the Paseo Arts Association in 2014 and appeared as one of the guest speakers for TEDx Oklahoma City in 2019.
