Oklahoma City Ballet is lucky to have OKC’s fashion guru, board member, and Ballet Ball committee member, Cindi Shelby, to “corral” us toward fashions of The New West, just in time for the Ballet Ball. Cindi’s best advice, “Have fun and be creative.”

How fancy should I dress for this western theme?

Our dress code is Western Glam, but the Ballet Ball never has strict rules, so there will be a mix of ladies in cocktail dresses, ball gowns, pants, and even jumpsuits. This theme is all about styling western accessories with an outfit you feel great wearing! You can go all-out glamour, or all western, or a combination of both!

What about for men?

Again, no strict rules. My husband Mike will wear his tuxedo jacket with a crisp white shirt, dark jeans, and of course boots and a belt that was once my father’s. Or if you like dressing up, throw on boots and a bolo tie with your favorite suit or tuxedo. Just make sure that your footwear is comfortable enough for dancing!

What trends are you seeing for spring?

I represent Lela Rose and Pearl by Lela Rose. This current collection is inspired by sand and the colors of a sunset. We also have the most perfect prints that fit the theme, both prairie florals, sweet plaids, and even a print featuring cacti!
