A FREE COMMUNITY EVENT

Join Oklahoma City Ballet for Dance Day 2026, a free community celebration filled with dance classes, performances, and opportunities to experience movement from a wide range of styles and traditions. Whether you're an experienced dancer, brand new to dance, or simply want to watch and enjoy, there's something for you!

All ages are welcome to attend this FREE event, made possible with a grant from OK Let's Dance, an Initiative of Kirkpatrick Family Fund.

The event takes place in Oklahoma City Ballet’s iconic Susan E. Brackett Dance Center.

DANCE DAY SCHEDULE

Dance Day will be fun and casual, allowing guests to pop-in to watch performances and participate in classes at their leisure.

CLASSES:

9:00 – 9:30am, Studio A
Family Dance | All Ages
Start Dance Day together! This fun, welcoming movement class is designed for children, adults, and families to dance side-by-side. No dance experience is needed—just come ready to move and have fun.

9:30 – 10:00am, Studio B
Elementary Ballet

An introduction to ballet created especially for elementary-age dancers. Students will explore ballet technique, musicality, and movement in an encouraging class environment. All experience levels are welcome.

9:30 – 10:00am, Studio D
Middle School Ballet
A ballet class designed for middle-school-age dancers to explore technique, musicality, coordination, and artistry. Previous ballet experience is welcome but not required.

9:30 – 10:00am, Studio E
Move with Me | Young Children + Grown-Ups
Little dancers and their grown-ups move together! Through music, imagination, and playful movement activities, children can experience the joy of dance alongside a parent or caregiver.

10:00 – 10:30am, Studio B
Creative Movement | Young Children
Imaginations lead the way in this playful introduction to dance. Children will explore music, shapes, rhythm, creativity, and movement while building confidence and coordination.

10:30 – 11:00am, Studio B
Move with Me | Young Children + Grown-Ups
Little dancers and their grown-ups move together! Through music, imagination, and playful movement activities, children can experience the joy of dance alongside a parent or caregiver.

11:00-11:45am, Studio A
Intro to Folklórico with Yúmare | All Ages
Experience the vibrant movement and traditions of Mexican folklórico dance with Yúmare Mexican Folkloric Dancers. This welcoming introductory class invites participants to learn, move, and experience folklórico together.

11:00-11:45am, Studio B
Everybody Dance! | All Ages + All Abilities
Dance belongs to everybody! This inclusive movement experience welcomes dancers of different ages, abilities, and levels of experience. Movement can be adapted so participants can engage in the way that works best for them.

Elementary + Middle School Jazz
An energetic jazz class for elementary and middle-school-age dancers featuring rhythm, coordination, musicality, and expressive movement. All levels of dance experience are welcome.

11:00-11:45am, Studio E
All-Ages Hip Hop with Alfonso Pule of Groovemeant
Move, groove, and explore Hip Hop with Alfonso Pule of Groovemeant in this fun, high-energy class designed to welcome a range of ages and experience levels. No previous Hip Hop training is required—just come ready to move!

11:45am-1:00pm, Studio A
Ballet Master Class with Artistic Director Ryan Jolicoeur-Nye
Join Oklahoma City Ballet Artistic Director Ryan Jolicoeur-Nye for a special 75-minute Dance Day master class. Dancers will have the opportunity to learn from OKC Ballet's artistic leadership in this featured Dance Day experience.

11:45am-12:30pm, Studio B
Adult Contemporary
Explore musicality, movement, expression, and contemporary dance in a welcoming class for adult dancers. Come with experience or simply come ready to move.

11:45am-12:30pm, Studio D
Meso-American Dance with Mocuepani-Xocitl Bax-Toh
Explore Meso-American dance through movement and cultural context in this special Dance Day class led by Mocuepani-Xocitl Bax-Toh.

11:45am-12:30pm, Studio E
All-Ages Musical Theater
Bring movement and storytelling together in an upbeat Musical Theater dance class. Participants will explore character, musicality, and performance while learning fun choreography.

Morning performances (10:00-11:00am) by:
Celebrate the incredible diversity of dance in our community! This fast-moving showcase brings together local dance and cultural organizations representing a variety of dance styles and traditions.

The finale will include the Studio Company performing Día de los Muertos in its entirety.
