Born and raised in Norman, Oklahoma, Quincy Allen grew up with a passion for dance that couldn’t be ignored. While attending Norman North High School, Quincy was granted the opportunity to train at the University of Oklahoma in the Modern Dance program under the direction of Derrick Minter. After graduating, Quincy spent the summer training in ballet and modern dance at the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute in Quartz Mountain. He then studied dance performance at the University of Central Oklahoma where he gained proficiency in styles such as Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Hip-hop, and Contemporary.
Quincy has performed all across the U.S. as a freelance and guest artist with companies such as Kaleidoscope Dance Company, Pilobolus, RACE Dance Company, Perpetual Motion. During his years performing he worked with choreographers such as Desmond Richardson, Will Earnston, Cat Cogliandro, Amy Nevius, Emily South, Hui Cha Poos, and Tina Kambour. One of his favorite performance experiences was on MTV’s “MADE” while he was in high school. Among many awards and accolades, the one Quincy is most proud of would be his certification in Dance for Parkinson’s Disease with the Mark Morris Dance Group lead by David Leventhal. He really wants to spread his love for dance to those he teaches and prides himself on making dance accessible to everyone.
