Evelina Sushko

Originally from Kyiv, Ukraine, Evelina Sushko graduated from the Kyiv State Choreographic College with honors. During her years in college, she was chosen to represent the school at  prestigious ballet competitions such as Prix de Lausanne in Switzerland, Paris International Ballet Competition in France, and Prague Festival of Dance in Czech Republic.

While dancing as a soloist with the National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre of Ukraine, Evelina performed major roles in a wide range of classical and neo-classical ballet productions, including ‘Swan Lake’, ‘Giselle’, ‘The Sleeping Beauty’, ‘The Nutcracker’, ‘La Bayadere’, 'Pictures at an Exhibition' among others. During this time she also continued her education at the National University of Culture and Arts in Kyiv, Ukraine (Faculty of Classical and Modern Choreography).

In 2003 Evelina moved to Canada to become one of the leading dancers of the Atlantic Ballet Theater of Canada, where she performed in many original productions and Gala performances, including 'Figaro', 'Phantom of the Opera', 'Don Juan', 'Merlin' among others. With the company, she toured extensively throughout Canada, Europe, and the United States. In recognition of her dance career she received an Honorary Citizenship of the City of Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada in 2011.

Since then, Evelina has been teaching ballet in Canada and the United States to children of all ages as well as adults. She is thrilled to be a part of the faculty of the Yvonne Chouteau School and loves teaching ballet technique and pointe classes. Apart from that, her pre-K students,her husband Kosta and children Nicole and Daniel always keep her on her toes.
