Ms. Matsuura was born in California and began her training under Hanna Karacic at the age of six. She danced with Orange County’s Festival Ballet Theatre for six seasons, where her repertoire included Queen of the Dryads in Don Quixote, White Fairy and Diamond in Sleeping Beauty, and Dew Drop in The Nutcracker. Ms. Matsuura completed her BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography at the University of California, Irvine where she performed works by Eugene Loring, Marius Petipa and George Balanchine, and originated roles in works by Donald McKayle, Jodie Gates, Molly Lynch and Tong Wang. Her choreography has been performed at UC Irvine, Azusa Pacific University and Youth America Grand Prix. Ms. Matsuura was on faculty at Southland Ballet Academy for 6 years before joining Oklahoma City Ballet’s Studio Company in 2017. She was featured in Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, and The Little Mermaid, and was promoted to apprentice for the 2018-19 season. She is an ABT® Affiliate Teacher who has successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Pre-Primary through Level 3 of the ABT® National Training Curriculum and successfully presented students for examinations.
