Community Outreach Teacher
James Williams began his dance training at age 8 with the Palm Beach Ballet Center under the direction of Joan Miller. He attended the Theater Dance Workshop in New York City, as well as Houston Ballet Academy on scholarship. James danced professionally with Houston Ballet, St. Louis Ballet, Ballet Dallas, Ballet Oklahoma/Oklahoma City Ballet, and completed three tours to Japan with Les Ballet Trockadero de Monte Carlo. His theater credits include musicals with Lyric Theatre in Oklahoma City, Casa Manana Theatre in Fort Worth, Candlewood Playhouse in Milford, Connecticut, and Poinciana Playhouse in Palm Beach, Florida.
Mr. Williams has taught dance for over 10 years. He has had the privilege of being a teacher with Oklahoma City Ballet’s public school outreach program BalletReach for six years, and is currently teaching ballet for kindergarten and first grade at Santa Fe South Elementary in south Oklahoma City through that program. Additionally he teaches Project Plié classes at Boys and Girls Club of Oklahoma County. Mr. Williams is an American Ballet Theatre® National Training Curriculum Affiliate Teacher, certified in Pre-Primary through Level 5 of the American Ballet Theatre® National Training Curriculum. He currently teaches Jazz and Adult Ballet at The School of Oklahoma City Ballet.
