Community Engagement Teacher
James Williams began his dance training at age eight with the Palm Beach Ballet Center under the direction of Joan Miller. He attended the Theater Dance Workshop in New York City, as well as Houston Ballet Academy on scholarship. Williams danced professionally with Houston Ballet, St. Louis Ballet, Ballet Dallas, Ballet Oklahoma/Oklahoma City Ballet, and completed three tours to Japan with Les Ballet Trockadero de Monte Carlo. His theater credits include musicals with Lyric Theatre in Oklahoma City, Casa Manana Theatre in Fort Worth, Candlewood Playhouse in Milford, Connecticut, and Poinciana Playhouse in Palm Beach, Florida.
Williams has taught dance for over eleven years. He has had the privilege of being a teacher with Oklahoma City Ballet’s public school community engagement program BalletReach for seven years, teaching classes at Santa Fe South and the Boys & Girls Club. Williams is an American Ballet Theatre® National Training Curriculum Affiliate Teacher, certified in Pre-Primary through Level 5 of the American Ballet Theatre® National Training Curriculum, who has successfully presented students for examinations.
