Ms. Mengden received her training at Allegro West Academy of Dance under the direction of Catriona Steel and Lynsey Steel. There, she completed all of her Royal Academy of Dance examinations through Advanced 2 with distinction. On full scholarship, Ms. Mengden trained at the Houston Ballet and then at the Sarasota Cuban Ballet School, under the direction of Ariel and Wilmian Serrano. At this time, she was chosen to be a part of the Dr. Suzanne Kesten Mentee Program. While in Sarasota, she had the opportunity to train with master teachers such as Ramona de Saa and Ana Julia Bermudez. In 2015, she performed by invitation at the International Ballet Festival of Havana in Cuba. Throughout the years, Ms. Mengden has won many awards from numerous competitions such as the Youth America Grand Prix, New York City Dance Alliance and Dance Masters of America. She spent her summers training at the Houston Ballet, the Carreno Dance Festival and at the Sarasota Cuban Ballet School. In 2018, Gabrielle attended the Oklahoma City Ballet summer intensive and upon completion received a Studio Company contract. At the Oklahoma City Ballet she performed in Septime Webre’s, Alice (In Wonderland), as a Corps de Ballet and Soloist Flamingo, Robert Mills’, The Nutcracker as a Snowflake, August Bournonville’s, La Sylphide as a Corps de Ballet Sylph and Cayetano Soto’s, World premiere of ADAM. After a successful season with the Studio Company, Ms. Mengden was promoted to Apprentice for the 2019/2020 season. She would like to give thanks to her family and teachers for all the love and support throughout her training and career.
