Erik Thordal-Christensen was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, and moved to Los Angeles, California at the age of 7. He was trained by his parents Thordal Christensen and Colleen Neary at Los Angeles Ballet School. Erik has been a member of the corps de ballet with Los Angeles Ballet, Boston Ballet, and Sarasota Ballet. He has danced lead roles as Espada in Don Quixote, Iago in The Moor’s Pavane, The Prince in The Nutcracker, Paris in Romeo and Juliet, Lysander in Ashton’s The Dream, Uncle Craven in The Secret Garden, Arabian in The Nutcracker, and English Prince in The Sleeping Beauty. He has also danced in George Balanchine’s Theme and Variations, Ashton’s Illuminations, George Balanchine’s Stravinsky Violin Concerto, Le Corsaire, William Forsythe’s Artifact, Swan Lake (Waltz couple and Hungarian)- Christensen/Neary, Giselle (Peasant Corps)- Christensen/Neary, La Sylphide – Bournonville/Christensen, Sechs Tanze -Jiří Kylián, Beneath One’s Dignity – Sonya Tayeh, George Balanchine’s The Four Temperaments (First Theme), George Balanchine’s Stars and Stripes (Men’s Regiment), George Balanchine’s La Sonnambula, George Balanchine’s La Valse, George Balanchine’s Serenade, The Nutcracker Mouse King and Spanish Soloist.
