Native Tulsan Donn Edwards studied with Roman Jasinski, Moscelyn Larkin, Yvonne Chouteau, and Miguel Terekhov before Robert Joffrey recruited him for The Joffrey School where Edwards’ primary teacher was Jonathan Watts. As a scholarship student he danced with New York City Opera and as a charter member of Joffrey II Ballet, prior to joining The Joffrey Ballet and rising to Soloist.

Edwards’ long association with classical ballet’s prince roles and the Balanchine Repertoire began with Kent Stowell and Franica Russell’s invitation to join The Frankfurt Ballet as Principal Dancer and continued throughout his tenure as Principal Dancer of Boston Ballet. Recognized nationally as a guest master teacher and a guest artist, Edwards is Professor Emeritus of the University of Oklahoma School of Dance
