Amy Potter

Amy Potter began dancing in her hometown, Roanoke, Virginia. She then trained at Nutmeg Conservatory for the Arts in Connecticut.  She continued her training at Boston Ballet, and later joined Houston Ballet II.  While touring nationally and internationally, she performed featured roles in works by Ben Stevenson, Stanton Welch, Ma Cong, Jiří Kylián, and Sir Kenneth MacMillan.

Potter joined Ballet West in 2011, where she performed roles such as Summer Fairy in Sir Frederick Ashton’s Cinderella, Beige Couple in Kylián’s Forgotten Land, and Beauty Fairy in Marius Petipa’s The Sleeping Beauty, as well as works by Jodie Gates, Helen Pickett, and Anna-Marie Holmes.

Potter joined Oklahoma City Ballet in 2014, was promoted to Soloist in 2015, and was named Principal in 2018. Her repertoire with the company includes roles such as Waltz Girl in Serenade and Sanguinic in The Four Temperaments by George Balanchine, Lilac Fairy in Robert Mills’ The Sleeping Beauty, The Queen of Hearts and Caterpillar in Septime Webre’s ALICE (in wonderland), and Sugar Plum Fairy in Mills’ The Nutcracker. She has been featured in works by Jiří Kylián, Nacho Duato, Stanton Welch, Helen Pickett, Agnes de Mille, Jacob Sparso, Paul Vasterling, and August Bournonville. Ms. Potter has also created roles in world premieres by Robert Mills, Sarah Tallman, and Cayetano Soto.
