Golden Swans is a program geared toward senior citizens who are either beginners or have had some prior experience with ballet. The goal of the program is to keep students moving and agile while exploring classic ballet movements.
Ballet classes for seniors have been shown to increase quality of life in various ways. Participation in ballet class keeps the body nimble and improves overall mobility. Ballet is a great way to stay physically active at any age! The structure of a ballet class with movements performed alongside music helps increase mental stimulation as well. Classes are held at the Susan E. Brackett Dance Center, 6800 N. Classen Blvd., every Monday from 11:00 am to noon.
Classes are currently held at Epworth Villa, the MAPS 3 Healthy Living Center, and our own Susan E. Brackett Dance Center. The classes at our Dance Center are held every Wednesday, 2 to 3 pm, and offered free of charge!
If you’d like to join us, please arrive 10 minutes early to your first class so you can fill out a short form. For questions, please contact Stephanie Pitts at firstname.lastname@example.org or (405) 208-8881.
For anyone who’s danced, Golden Swans gives you your soul back. For anyone who’s never danced but always wanted to, the program helps you find your soul. This is the nicest thing I’ve done for myself in a really long time.Robin Martin, Golden Swans dancer
It brings me back to my childhood. Once the music started in class, I wanted to cry because it brought back that feeling of joy. It’s just good for the soul.Cynthia Brindley, Golden Swans dancer
