Golden Swans is a brand new program geared towards senior citizens who are either beginners or have had some past experience with ballet. The goal of the program is to keep the students moving and agile while exploring ballet movements.
Ballet classes for seniors have been shown to increase quality of life in multiple ways. Participation in ballet class keeps the body nimble and improves overall mobility. Ballet is a great way to stay physically active at an age! The structure of a ballet class with movements being performed to music helps to increase mental stimulation as well.
Classes are currently being held at Epworth Villa, the MAPS 3 Healthy Living Center, and our own Susan E. Brackett Dance Center. The classes at our Dance Center are every Wednesday 2:00-3:00 and are offered free of charge! From June 12-July 31, the class will change to our summer schedule, with classes on Wednesday from 12:45-1:45 PM. If you would like to join us, please arrive about 10 minutes early to your first class so you can fill out a short form.
