Golden Swans is a brand new program geared towards senior citizens who are either beginners or have had some past experience with ballet. The goal of the program is to keep the students moving and agile while exploring ballet movements. The teacher, Laura Ward, has years of teaching experience and knows exactly what seniors need in a ballet class.
Ballet classes for seniors have been shown to increase quality of life in multiple ways. Participation in ballet class keeps the body nimble and improves overall mobility. Ballet is a great way to stay physically active at an age! The structure of a ballet class with movements being performed to music helps to increase mental stimulation as well.
Classes are currently being held at Epworth Villa, the MAPS 3 Healthy Living Center, and our own Susan E. Brackett Dance Center. The classes at our Dance Center are every Wednesday 2:00-3:00 and are offered free of charge! If you would like to join us, please arrive about 10 minutes early to your first class so you can fill out a short form.
