Dance for Parkinson’s
Oklahoma City Ballet has proudly partnered with the Parkinson Foundation of Oklahoma to offer Dance for Parkinson’s classes! Dance has been proven to be an enjoyable and beneficial way for people with Parkinson’s to work on their balance and mobility in a fun social atmosphere.
The hour-long class takes participants through different dance movements by sitting, standing, or moving across the floor. Classes are held at the Susan E. Brackett Dance Center, 6800 N. Classen Blvd., every Monday from 11:00 am to noon and Thursdays 2:00-3:00 pm. For any questions, please contact Stephanie Pitts at firstname.lastname@example.org or (405) 208-8881.
My dad was diagnosed with Parkinson’s 10 years ago. As I watched the disease progress, I longed for a way to use my skills to impact his life and others like him. It’s nothing short of a miracle to watch people in the class literally transform in front of my eyes. They may enter shuffling and uncertain, but they all become graceful, fluid, filled with joy and confident! It’s beautiful to experience. The amazing support of the community and the space available at the Susan E. Brackett Dance Center has made it possible for me and my amazing Parkinson’s dancers and I’m so thankful.
