Oklahoma City Ballet’s Summer Intensive 2015

Oklahoma City Ballet is accepting VIDEO AUDITIONS through May 1st. The Summer Intensive is open to students aged 13-23 years old.  Students may attend a three or six week session.  As of June 1, 2015, applicants must be at least 13 years old and no older than 23 years of age.  Women should have been on pointe for at least two years.  Apprentices for Oklahoma City Ballet’s 2015-2016 Season may be selected from the summer intensive.

The curriculum includes classes in Ballet, Pointe, Men’s Technique, Variations, Partnering, Composition, Jazz, Modern, Pilates, Yoga, Nutrition, Dance History, and Injury Prevention taught by renowned guest artists and Oklahoma City Ballet faculty.

Guest teachers include master teacher Jolinda Menendez, former Principal with American Ballet Theatre, Oklahoma City Ballet Principal Dancer and star of the hit TV show Breaking Pointe Ronnie Underwood, Oklahoma City Ballet Principal Dancer, Miki Kawamura and Artistic Director, Robert Mills.  Acceptance to the program is by audition only at one of our National Audition Tour cities or by VIDEO AUDITION.  For detailed audition information on auditioning please visit our National Audition Tour web page.

Students are immersed in a rigorous, professional training program.  Students may attend the entire six week intensive or may choose to attend a three week session.  The end of each three week session culminates in a studio performance.  Performances will be at Oklahoma City Ballet studios on Thursday, June 25 and Friday, July 17 from 4:00-5:00 PM.  All family and friends are invited to attend.

Supervised activities on the weekends include trips to Oklahoma City attractions and shows.  Past trips have included the OKC Museum of Art, the OKC Zoo, Lyric Theatre’s production of  The Little Mermaid, and Riversport Adventure.
